Spinning this way neither pushes nor pulls air
Narrative
Men and women live in a giant underground silo with more regulations than they believe are in place to protect them from the toxic and crumbling world. Whether they’re exploring the stars, escaping dystopias, or making the world a better place, these women embody the very essence of science fiction. Season 1 covers the first 30 chapters of Wool; – the book has 82 chapters. The floor fans in various episodes spin the wrong way, in terms of the orientation of the blades.
My first review!
Featured in WatchMojo: Top 10 TV Shows of 2023 You Need to Get Rid of (2023). I read the Hughes trilogy years ago and thoroughly enjoyed the books. When I randomly browsed IMDB and found SILO, I was immediately intrigued. I see some mixed opinions and I can relate to some of them, here is my take on the first season.
First of all, I love dystopian literature!
The dystopian genre offers a unique psychological insight into human nature in hypothetical scenarios. My passion for the trilogy was strengthened because Hughes was able to develop Orwellian ideas into a hypothesis that is relevant to the modern world. Imagining the development of the human psyche in dystopian scenarios is a difficult task. I think Hughes did a wonderful job, SILO captures most of these aspects in a refreshing way.
The acting is phenomenal for the more central characters
It is not an adaptation in the sense that it follows the story. It is based on the books, but it naturally has to adapt to the viewers in a rapidly changing world. However, the series manages to capture the atmosphere of a society living in silos. Unlike the superficial storytelling of other shows, “SILO” has a wonderful mix of character development and focus on atmosphere.
Give it a try!
The only problem I have with the show is the lack of atmospheric development. They spend a lot of screen time chasing and capturing Juliettte. They lack the atmospheric development of the Silo as a society. Of course, it needs to attract a receptive audience.
