Overture Written by Josh Schmidt and Marius De Vries Performed by Josh Schmidt
Narrative
After decades of solitude, a wealthy family living in a salt mine meets a stranger. Joshua Oppenheimer described the film as an exploration of whether we, as human beings, can reach a place where our guilt is too much to recover from the past.
Beautiful ecological backdrop (landscape)
Satire in a bunker and a singing musical? Okay, I’m confused, but intrigued.
It’s not sci-fi
At least one or two good actors (especially Tilda Swindon), yet they all usurp caricatures of snobs, helpers, working class… There’s no backstory, no depth, no reasoning, and for some reason it never seemed to lose a single meal after barely surviving something outside, even though it sings well.
The ending is perhaps the best part of this movie
Without spoiling anything, in 3 hours you can expect something like a theater with songs and revelations of past stories that you could probably have written yourself for someone you hated (especially if you think global warming should be blamed only on a few rich people).
