It explores the lengths people will go to save themselves when the wealth that started the world becomes its most dangerous commodity after a strange disease threatens to kill anyone with any wealth. Rosamund Pike, Daniel Brühl, and Macaulay Culkin were originally cast in the lead roles, but all three dropped out of the show due to the conflict schedule. Rosamund Pike was replaced by Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Daniel Brühl was replaced by Rafe Spall.
