Narrative
James Patterson’s series of novels about the complex and brilliant detective Alex Cross
Hodges is the third actor to portray Cross, following in the footsteps of Morgan Freeman, who first portrayed him on screen in the 1997 film Kiss the Girls and again in the 2001 film sequel Along Came a Spider; and Tyler Perry as the title character in the 2012 film Alex Cross, which bombed at the box office and caused Lionsgate to scrap its previously planned sequel Double Cross. James Patterson’s novels were some of my favorites, and Aldis Hodges is the perfect Alex Cross for me.
Ryan Eggold doesn’t play the perfect villain
I’ve always liked his character in Leverage, but this role shows off another range of his acting chops. Their interactions at his birthday party were gold.
My slow burn
The plot moves forward, revealing surprises and unexpected relationships. I agree with another commenter that the editing needs to lighten the scenes.
Too dark and distracting from the viewing experience
The character development is strong, and it’s easy to get caught up in the friendship and family dynamics. I hope they plan to make this a series regular.
