Narrative
The Jackal is an elusive assassin who makes his living by carrying out high-paying hits. He soon meets his match in a tough British intelligence officer who follows him on an exciting cat-and-mouse chase across Europe. "The Day of the Jackal" The novel is set in 1963 and featured the assassination of then-French President Charles de Gaulle.
The show moves the setting to the present day
Reference: Graham Norton and guests: Denzel Washington/Paul Mescal/Saoirse Ronan/Eddie Redmayne/Blossoms (2024). Mostly well done, the Jackals cast is very good here. There are scenes where I find it unlikely that the Jackal couldn’t have been easily identified by a security camera, like in ep1 after the sniper shot him as he walked out of the hotel.
Maybe because it was based on an old book (or TV show?) where that wasn’t a concern
Also issue 2, and probably bigger, is that the actress playing the detective is really incapable of expressing herself and has only one facial expression. At work? Blank stares.
Talking to her daughter?
Shot? Blank stares. Black stare.
